Parents also breed brooding ducks from 0 to 3 weeks of age. The brooding period lays the foundation for the breeding and laying period. Therefore, scientific feeding and management should be adopted to cultivate excellent breeders.
1. Breeding methods Breeding ducklings generally adopt online flat raising or ground level raising.
2. Nutritional conditions must be fed with full-priced pellets (used before 2 weeks of age) or in powdered material. The nutritional requirements of the ducklings used for breeding are different from those of commercial ducks, as long as they reach their minimum nutritional requirements. See chapter IV for nutrient requirements and rations during brooding.
3. Brooding preparation 1 week before the hatching, disinfection of premises and utensils should be completed. 48 hours before hatching, open the ventilation of the duck house window and sterilize, raise the temperature 12 to 24 hours in advance, and fill the trough and sink.
4. Feeding Management Techniques Broiler ducklings are used for boiling water and eating.
(1) The drinking water can not be lack of drinking water. Vitamin C, glucose, minerals, etc. can be added to the water in the first 3 days to reduce the stress caused by environmental changes.
(2) Feeding can be fed in batches according to the standard of feeding amount, and it can also be fed in full at the specified times. 1 to 7 days old free to feed, feeding day and night. One-day-old can feed once every hour, each time is not appropriate, and the principle of fullness and not wastage. From the age of 8 to 14 days, the night feeding time is gradually reduced, and no feeding is performed at night at the age of 14 days. 15 to 21 days of age are fed 3 times a day. Add 25% and 50% of the rations during the 20 to 21 days of feed.
(3) Selection and group quality The quality of newborn chicks directly affects the growth and development and survival rate. Therefore, only young chicks can be kept as breeding ducks. The criteria for selection are: uniform size, body weight in line with the requirements of the variety, fine hairiness, rich luster, moderate size of the abdomen, good umbilical contraction, great eyes, flexible movements, and struggling in the hands. According to the proportion of breeding companies, there are one to two sets of breeding companies. In general, there are 140 ducks per set, and the male and female are polycultured.
(4) The temperature under the umbrella at the age of 1 day is 34-36°C, the guardrail zone is 29-31°C, and the room temperature is 24°C. Warming depends on the temperature of the duck house and the temperature. In the summer and autumn, the daytime temperature can exceed 27°C without warming; the temperature is low, especially when it is particularly cold, it should be heated to meet the temperature requirement of the ducklings. Cooling should be carried out gradually. It can be reduced by 1°C daily and 2°C daily. In short, it can adapt to natural temperatures before 21 days of age. If the temperature is lower than 5°C at that time, it should be heated to reach 15-18°C.
(5) Illumination 1 to 3 days old Incandescent 5 W/m2, 23 hours light daily, 1 hour dark. From the 4th day of age, the nighttime light replenishment time was gradually reduced until the end of 2 weeks of age was the same as the natural daylight hours.
(6) Density: 1 week old: at least 25 per square meter, 2 weeks old: 10 per square meter, 3 weeks old: 5 per square meter, and 4 weeks old: 2 per square meter.
(7) Weighing Weighed 28 days old in the morning on an empty stomach and each group weighed 10%. If there are fewer than 140 ducks per group, then the ducks should be weighed in proportions of more than 50%. At the end of brooding, the difference between the body weight of the ducklings and the standard is not more than 2%.
