Plasticizers are toxic

Plasticizers are well known to the public in May last year. At that time, it caused a great uproar in Taiwan, China, becoming a synonym for major food safety incidents.

At that time, six kinds of phthalate ester plasticizer components such as DEHP, DINP, DNOP, DBP, DMP, and DEP were detected in foods in Taiwan, and DIDP was detected in the medicine. Sun Yuxi, a professor at the Institute of Food Science at Taiwan University, bluntly stated after the security incident that the plasticizer DEHP was 20 times more toxic than melamine. Studies have shown that plasticizers can also increase the burden on the liver and kidneys, causing chronic damage to the immune system and digestive system, and severe liver cancer.

At that time, the Ministry of Health of China issued an emergency bulletin listing phthalates (also known as phthalates) as a list of non-edible substances and food additives that may be abused in foods.

The reporter learned that the National Food Quality Supervision and Inspection Center stipulates that only consulting with the company’s official seal inspection reference letter will be accepted, and the public or consumers’ individual consultation or testing requirements will not be accepted.

Some food experts disclosed to the "International Financial News" reporter that there is currently no specific testing standard for liquor plasticizers. The existing tests are based on the provisions of the Ministry of Health.
