The research team of the Japan Industrial Technology Research Institute announced on the 15th that it has developed a rapid blood lipid meter that can measure the concentration of neutral fat in the blood by only a few seconds of light on the finger, without collecting blood like a physical examination. This result will help people prevent lifestyle-related diseases.
Point your finger at the front end of a slightly thicker fiber tube and use "near-infrared" light. The wavelength of this light is between visible light and infrared light, and the transmitted light is analyzed by the property which is difficult to be absorbed by the human body, and the concentration of neutral fat in the blood is measured.
In the past, it was neither convenient nor safe to ensure long-term illumination to ensure light transmission intensity. The instrument collects light over a wide range, and even if the light transmission line is weak, it can be measured with a sensitivity equivalent to thousands of times in the past.
The research team is striving to bring the fat measuring device to the market as a health device in the next year. At that time, the measured value will be divided into five levels, so that people can clearly understand the fat intake. Lead researcher Furukawa Yuki said: "If you can easily determine the neutral fat concentration in real time, it will help people to improve their awareness of preventing obesity."
