Molex now offers the new Polymicro Technologies nanocapillary, a breakthrough in the one-micron size of traditional products.Polymicro Technologies' nanocapillary product line has a tube internal diameter (ID) ranging from 200 to 1,000 nanometers (0.2 to 1.0 micron). Conventional capillary products have an internal diameter of no less than 1 micron. Prior to the development of nanocapillary, for scientific, industrial, and medical applications, the primary choices for substrates smaller than 1 micron in diameter included wet etching or ion milling, both of which were extremely costly and relatively difficult to employ.
Joe Macomber, Molex Separation Science Product Manager, said: "Polymicro Technologies' capillary is built on industry-leading capabilities to deliver cost-effective, high-performance capillary products in sizes less than 1 micron. These capillaries have proven to be complete as packages. Substrate and leak test substrates also have the potential for single-molecule research and analysis. Synthetic fused silica has a mirror-like smooth inner surface for stable flow of liquids and gases.
