3. Double breeding

4. Multiple breeding
During the estrus period of a sow, the same boar (or different boar) is bred 3 or more times, which is called multiple breeding. In production, 3 breedings are suitable for primiparous sows or some newly introduced foreign pig breeds. Matching more than 3 times does not increase the number of litters. The reason is: too many breeding times, causing the male and female sows to be too tired, thus reducing sexual desire and semen quality. The test proved that: the sows were bred once or three times during one estrus period, and the litter size increased with the number of matings; the number of litters was significantly decreased after mating 4 times, and the number of litters was more than 5 times.
