Seven technologies that are subverting medical treatment , do you know?
From printable smart sensors to micro-pumps that screen lung cancer early, let Xiaobian take you on a journey of discovery!
1. Heraeus: printable and flexible smart sensor
Heraeus, a St. Paul, Minnesota company, is introducing new printable and flexible smart sensor technology that has two main benefits: cost-effective, and medical device companies can easily add it to existing designs. In other words, there is no need to design it around it.
“With this groundbreaking new sensing technology, we are currently seeing many opportunities to add functionality to a variety of applications, such as catheters, health monitoring wearables and robotic assisted surgery. Imagine this new sensing technology. "The device that provides a tactile sensation for a catheter or surgical robot," said Stefan Schibli, project manager for sensor development at Heraeus.
Smart sensor technology consists of two main elements:
This is an elastomer that provides deformation under mechanical shock, depending on the application of the device.
More important is the microscopic carbon particle matrix developed by Heraeus, which the company claims provides the necessary electrical feedback for various smart sensing functions. Smart materials with unique pore size distribution, matrix purity, porosity, surface functionalization and microstructure can be fine-tuned by medical device designers and engineers.
Heraeus says sensor technology is so easy because it can be placed in any form and shape - it can also be printed. Surprisingly, the sensor is loaded into the molding device - actually replacing a portion of its polymer body. Manufacturers can use the same substrate as before and mix it with Heraeus' sensor matrix to seamlessly integrate the sensor.
Furthermore, the materials used in this technique are biocompatible and therefore do not require packaging.
2. TTP Ventus: Micropump for early lung cancer biopsy
The British company TTP Ventus has developed an unusual micropump that enables breath biopsy and is designed to detect early lung or bowel cancer by volatile organic compounds (VOC).
TTP Ventus was launched by a number of technology partners to help commercialize the second generation of the flagship Disc Pump.
The pump is a portable, lightweight disc with ultra-low pulse, smooth flow, and millisecond response time set point changes. The micropump does not change the volume of the chamber, but instead excites high frequency acoustic standing waves in a fixed volume chamber. It provides silent operation and flexibility to meet the product needs of wearable devices.
Disc Pump is a good example of the technology developed by the medical device industry for other markets. Disk pump technology was originally developed to meet the needs of the fuel cell market, but is now widely used in areas including medical equipment, healthcare and scientific research.
Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients
Refers to the raw materials used in the production of various preparations, and is the active ingredient in the preparations
Various substances prepared by chemical synthesis, plant extraction or biotechnology are used as medicinal powders, crystals, extracts, etc., but cannot be directly taken by patients.
And the drug in powder, crystal, and extract state is processed into administration forms (such as tablets, capsules, injections, pills, ointments, etc.) that are convenient for patients to take, and these administration forms are called drug dosage forms .
Our company can provide various raw materials, anti-cancer raw materials, fitness raw materials, liquids, Cosmetic Raw Materials, Weight Loss Raw Materials, food additives, plant extract powders, aphrodisiac raw materials, hair loss raw materials, Vitamins, etc.
