Smart phone to quickly diagnose cancer

An advanced smart phone expansion accessory that provides a new way to diagnose cancer, is quick and inexpensive to check, and can be helpful in remote areas.

The D3 system is a battery-powered LED light that allows standard smartphones to record high-resolution imagery using a camera.

Agence France-Presse reported that D3 is intended to be used by medical professionals rather than the public. In current use cases, it seems to be as accurate as the more complex and costly tests, but each patient costs only $1.80.

He said: "Because the field of view is wider than traditional microscopy, the D3 system can record more than 100,000 blood or tissue sample cells in a single image."

The test data can be quickly sent to the processing server via a secure encrypted cloud service and the results can be sent back to the physician in a matter of minutes or hours.
