At present, cold spring cauliflower is in the bulbous expansion phase, this stage is the critical period for the formation of cauliflower production. Vegetable farmers must focus on the following management:
1. Water and fertilizer management. The balloon enlargement period has a large demand for water and fertilizer. It should be applied 2-3 times depending on the amount of base fertilizer and field conditions. It can be applied with 20 kg of high-K compound fertilizer per acre, and usually water is poured for 7-10 days. Once the fertilizer water once, the amount of water should be sufficient, poured thoroughly.
2. Cover the leaf ball. When the curd diameter is about 5 cm (egg size), the 1-2 outer leaves near the flower ball are broken to cover the flower bulb to avoid direct sunlight and keep the ball white. When the cover leaves are wilted and yellow, new leaves should be replaced promptly.
3. Disease prevention and pest control. The major pests and diseases in the production of spring cauliflower include downy mildew, soft rot, diamondback moth and cabbage caterpillar. Downy mildew was sprayed with 72% Kelu wettable powder 600-800 times, soft rot was sprayed or sprayed with agricultural streptomycin or neophytin, and Pieris rapae was sprayed with 50% phoxim 2000 times. The diamondback moth was sprayed with avermectin EC 1000-3000 times or 5% Tiopar 1000-2000 times.
4. Harvest timely. When the cauliflower flower ball grows fully, the surface is round and the edge is not yet loose, it is suitable for harvesting. Generally, early-maturing varieties have a diameter of 10-15 cm, and mid-late-maturing varieties have a diameter of 25-30 cm. When harvesting, generally leave 2-3 leaflets to protect the curd.
